It is disgusting. We are told to love sex but to never masturbate and to have sex with the most women to look like a Man. To love our bodies but we have to have tons of hair, be physically fit, have muscles, and to never wear make up. We have to like sports and be able to play them and be really good at them because we’re men. We can be nerds but we can’t be TOO smart or forget that athletics come before smarts or we aren’t “the Man”. We are told we need to find a princess and to seek her out by constantly showing off and degrading women with sexual puns and cheesy pick up lines. We are given the message that outside beauty is what matters the most but if we have it and get successful it was because we have a pretty face or a rockin’ bod. We are told we exaggerate and that we aren’t oppressed when we complain that sexism happens on both sides of the spectrum. We are taught that being a Man is something you have to achieve in life, whether or not you want to be their definition of “a Man”. WE have to fear walking at night. WE have to be strong enough to protect women and our fellow Man or else we’re whimps and don’t have “the balls”. WE have to be cautious of where we are and who we are with. That we are told we should fight back if we are assaulted and to never cry because otherwise we aren’t a real Man. That male fashion designers, secretaries, and nurses are degraded and yelled at in their professions and are automatically homosexual. That you are judged just by how you wear a t-shirt, pants, or a hat. It goes both ways, whether or not you agree is completely up to you. Society has a standard for everyone.
